Individual Therapy

Recovery is a journey, and at Next Step Recovery, we’re here to walk it with you. Individual therapy is more than just a part of treatment—it’s a space where you can be fully seen, heard, and supported. This isn’t just about stopping substance use; it’s about rebuilding your life, uncovering the “why” behind your struggles, and creating a future you’re proud of.

Our approach is simple: we meet you where you are. No cookie-cutter solutions, no judgment—just a partnership focused on your goals and your healing.

Why Individual Therapy Matters

One-on-one therapy provides the kind of care that’s all about you. It’s your time to dig deep, celebrate wins, and work through challenges with someone who genuinely cares about your progress. At Next Step Recovery, you’ll have a primary therapist that you can build a healthy therapeutic relationship with so you can be more present and open when you go into sessions.

Here’s what makes individual therapy so powerful:

Therapy That Grows With You

Recovery doesn’t stop as soon as you get sober. So, your therapy should be there to support you every step of the way. At Next Step Recovery, individual therapy evolves with you, providing steady, customized support every step of the way.

During Detox

While you become stable in detox, we’ll introduce you to therapy as a healing tool. We start the conversation about when you should start individual therapy, usually in the second week.

In Residential Treatment

Residential treatment is where the real work begins. Your primary therapist will work with you to dive into the “why” behind addiction, address past pain, and help you build a new foundation.

In Sober Living

As you become more independent in sober living, therapy remains a safe space to heal. From handling stress to building healthy relationships, your therapist can keep you grounded and focused on your goals.

Aftercare

Even after you finish treatment and leave sober living, individual therapy can be a normal part of your recovery. Our team will help you connect with virtual services or a therapist who can continue supporting you when you finish at Next Step.

What to Expect

Starting therapy might feel like a big step, but our licensed therapists are here to make it as comfortable and empowering as possible.
1. Getting to know you: We’ll begin with an open, compassionate conversation about your story and what you want for the future.
2. Setting your goals: Together, we’ll create a plan that’s all about you—your needs, your pace, your vision for recovery.
3. Your sessions: Each session is a chance to learn, grow, and move forward. You’ll work with a primary therapist who’s in your corner every step of the way.
4. Evolving as you grow: As your journey unfolds, your therapy evolves to meet your changing needs.
